Cricket Returns to East Anglia in Less Than 75 Days

As the season grows closer the East Anglian Premier League (EAPL) has released its fixtures for the 2023 season. Champions of the 2022 seasons, Swaston and Babraham will be looking to retain the title after gaining 420 points after 20 games. Mildenhall will be hoping to do one better as they look to pip Swaston to the title this year after finishing second on 375 points.


Winning the title in 2022 Sawston and Babraham tweeted, “incredible end to another amazing season in the @cricket_EAPL”. On the fifth of September, the champions posted an article on their website saying “a glimpse at [the] table is also quite revealing as it shows that the Rams class of 2022 have amassed 420 league points this term, fourteen more than last year, having played two games fewer. Wow!”


Witham will be looking to improve on their performance last year, finishing bottom, they remain in the EAPL. In an extension of the league, newcomers Wisbech will be hoping for a successful season as they hope to stay in the Premier League.


The first round of fixtures will be played on the 15th April and are as follows:


Copdock & Old Ipswichians CC vs Sawston and Babraham CC

Frinton On Sea CC vs Sudbury CC

Horsford CC vs Saffron Walden CC

Mildenhall CC vs Great Witchingham CC

Swardeston CC vs Bury St Edmunds CC

Wisbech Town CC vs Witham CC


The countdown has begun to the first game with under one hundred days before the first ball will bowled, excited is building the EAPL said “T-minus 74 days & counting”.
