As the cricket season draws nearer, teams ready themselves for the 2023 season. Here is a look at Frinton-On-Sea Cricket Club.

Frinton finished tenth in the East Anglian Premier League (EAPL) in the 2022 season. They will be hoping to improve on their league position in the 2023 season as the first round of fixtures on April 15th quickly approaches.

The seaside team gained 228 points from 20 games with one of those games being called off meaning they shared seven points with Copdock and Old Ipswichians Cricket Club. Frinton said “game against @CopdockOICC… has unfortunately been called off due to a waterlogged outfield” as both teams observed a minute's silence as a mark of respect to Her Majesty. The East Anglian Premier League said in a tweet “teams will observe a minutes silence at 10.50 as a mark of respect to Her Majesty who [has] devoted herself to this country for 70 years”.

Frinton finished two points behind ninth-place Saffron Walden Cricket Club. They ended six points ahead of Witham. Frinton amassed 46 batting points throughout the season which lands them sixth in the batting points league table, they gained 41 bowling points putting them second behind Witham in that league table.

The stand-out players from the 2022 season for Frinton-On-Sea were Joshua Rymell who ended up totaling 602 runs throughout the whole season. Bryce Street achieved the highest batting score for Frinton last season, scoring a stunning 140 against Witham, away, where he was finally caught by Christopher Garrard, bowler Cody McDonald. Street had an average, that game of 83.83. Mohammed Iranpana had the highest strike throughout the 2022 season ending on 142.86.

Blaine Bannister led the way in the wickets with an impressive 38, however, he could not get the best bowling figures which fell to Josh Frame with figures of 7 for 66 against eventual champions Sawston and Babraham in a drawn match. Frame took the wicket of Sawston opener Charlie Lewis denying his 50 by just one run. Frame then went through Sawston’s middle order taking the wickets of batters 3 to 6 and eventually cleaning up the tail end with Sawston being bowled out for 228. Rezi Choudhary had the best economy rate from the 2022 season for Frinton, with an economy of 2.88.

Frinton will be hoping the top performers from last season can help them move up the league in the 2023 season.
